Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 25, 2025
Introduction
This Privacy Policy governs how SmartLegal AI, Inc. ('we,' 'us,' 'our') collects, uses, shares, and protects personally identifiable information ('Personal Information') when you ('User,' 'you,' 'your') access or use our AI-powered chatbot service ('Services'). The Services facilitate legal intake by collecting User Data either for direct transmission to law firms ('Direct Law Firm Clients') or for sharing with lead generation companies ('Lead Generation Partners') who may sell or distribute it as leads to law firms or legal professionals ('Third-Party Legal Professionals').
This policy applies only to our practices and does not cover companies or individuals we do not own or control, including Direct Law Firm Clients, Lead Generation Partners, or Third-Party Legal Professionals, whose data practices are governed by their own policies post-transmission. In certain cases, we may also share Personal Information with third parties, but only as described below.
Our Services operate on websites owned or operated by third parties, including law firm websites (for Direct Law Firm Clients) and lead generation platforms (for Lead Generation Partners). Any Personal Information you provide on or to these third-party websites—or that they collect—is subject to their privacy policies, not ours. We are not responsible for the content, privacy, or security practices of these third-party websites, including how Direct Law Firm Clients or Lead Generation Partners handle User Data after we transmit it. To protect your information, we recommend reviewing the privacy policies of all third-party websites you access via our Services.
Information Collection
What Information Does SmartLegal AI Collect?
We collect and store Personal Information you provide when interacting with our AI-powered legal intake chatbot, which uses natural language processing and predefined workflows to facilitate intake for Direct Law Firm Clients or Lead Generation Partners. This includes:
- Personal Information: Such as your name, email address, phone number, zip code, date of birth, and specific details about your legal matter (e.g., type and date of injury), provided via the chatbot during the intake process.
- Third-Party Account Information: If you log in using third-party accounts (e.g., Google, Facebook), we may access data like your name, email, or profile picture, depending on your privacy settings with those services.
For Direct Law Firm Clients, this data is transmitted securely to the law firm for review. For Lead Generation Partners, it is shared to generate leads for sale to Third-Party Legal Professionals. We may require certain Personal Information to enable service delivery, such as registration or connecting you with legal professionals.
Communications
If you provide contact details (e.g., email address, phone number) via the chatbot, you expressly consent to SmartLegal AI, Direct Law Firm Clients, Lead Generation Partners, and Third-Party Legal Professionals contacting you via email, phone calls, or text messages—including autodialed or prerecorded messages—related to your legal matter or our Services.
